Bangladeshi GM Molla Abdulla Al Rakib finished first, alone with 8 points, undefeated in the 9-round Swiss System held 19-27 March 2017 in Kantipath, Kathmandu, Nepal.
GMs Ziaur Rahman, with 7.5 points, and Niaz Murshed, 6.5 points, finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Untitled Sri Lankan Kalugampitiya R.S. finished with 6 points to earn the FM title.
WIM Hamid Rani of Bangladesh finished in a tie with defending champion WIM Akter Shamima, also of Bangladesh. Rani won the tie break by Direct Encounter, having beaten Shamima in the 3rd round.

Chief Arbiter Dharmendra Kumar of India reported that the tournament was well organized in the Ganesh Hall of Hotel Yellow Pagoda which was the official hotel. Cash prizes were sponsored by the Asian Chess Federation.
