Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Philippines Top Asian Mixed Doubles U-18 Team Championship

The Indonesian duo of FM Aditya Bagus Arfan (left) and Laysa Latifah, top seeded tandem in the 21-country tournament, won the Asian Mixed Doubles Under-18 Chess Team Championship held over the weekend of 28-30 April 2023.

The Indonesian pair scored 16 match points, one match point ahead of runner-up Turkmenistan with 15 match points and third placer Philippines with 13 match points. Visit chess-results.com for round by round results.

In the individual competition, Christian Gian Karlo Arca won the gold medal among the boys followed by Hommadov Amanmuhamnmet of Turkmenistan for the silver. The bronze medal was shared by FM Aditya Bagus Arfan of Indonesia, Fandi Mazen of Syria (below left) and FM Sai Han Thiha of Myanmar (below right).

 

Among the girls, Latifah Laysa of Indonesia won the gold medal followed by silver medalist Shohradova Lala of Turkmenistan and bronze medalist Melika Mohammadi of Iran (photo below).
