Western Asia Youth Chess Championship Starts

The Western Asia Youth Chess Championship with standard time control has started with early leaders from various countries. Visit chess-results.com for standings and round by round results. Above is Team Maldives, the largest delegation befitting the host country. The festival is held in six age groups for boys and girls. Nine countries are competing in the event organized by the Maldives Chess Association under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE, namely Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and host Maldives.

The Rapid chess championship was held yesterday. The standard event will take place until morning of 22nd June followed by the first Beach Blitz tournament in the afternoon. Follow us on Twitter facebook and  Instagram.

Teams were met at the airport (above are some members of Team India) by the organizing Maldives Chess Association and taken by speedboat below to the island of Ukulhas.
