  1. When was your Federation founded?

PB Percasi was established on August 17th 1950 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

  1. How many chess players are there in your country?

We have around 200,000 chess players, but there are no less than 5,000,000 who can play chess.

  1. Do you have FIDE titled and rated players?

Yes, around 300 rated players.

  1. Who are your top players?

GM Susanto Megaranto with Elo Rating 2528.

  1. Tell us about the leader(s) in your National Chess Federation and their vision for chess in your country.

GM Utut Adianto, Chairman of PB Percasi (Indonesia Chess Federation) 2017 – 2021.

  1. Are there major or proud accomplishments in recent years that we should know about?

Asian Champion in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Age 8, 10, 12. Indonesia has become one of Asia’s chess powers since 1960.

  1. What are your major competitions?

National Championship, and around 60 Open and Age-Group tournaments yearly all over Indonesia.

  1. Is there chess in schools and how does it work?

Yes. However it is not part of school subject, instead it is an extra curriculum activity with chess player invited as mentor.

  1. Do you get support from your government and if so, how do they help?

Sometimes, especially during event like SEA Games.

  1. Finally, please tell us about your developmental programs and activities.

We are developing training program across country through establishment of chess centers such as in Medan, Central Java, West Java, East Java, South Sulawesi and South Kalimantan.
