3-way Tie in 2023 NZ Open Championship

The 2023 NZ Open Championships were completed last night with a close finish ending in a three-way tie between visiting GM’s Elshan Moradiabadi and Samy Shoker and reigning NZ Champion FM Daniel Gong who all finished on 7/9 and were all undefeated. Daniel Gong put in another strong performance after his good result at the Chennai Olympiad and is New Zealand’s next hope to achieve the IM title.
Very pleasing was the strong performances by some of NZ’s top female players including WIM Jasmine Zhang, WIM Layla Timergazi, WCM Isabelle Ning and WCM Nadia Braganza.
