Asian Online Youth Chess Championships has started with Girls Division

The 2021 Asian Online Youth Chess Championships has started with 3 rounds played on Friday for Girls Under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. A total of 491 Girls from 20 Countries are competing for the award in the 6 Categories Visit chess-results.com for round by round results, standings and to download games.

Girls under 18

After three rounds,  14th seed Nghiem Thao Tam of Vietnam was the only unbeaten players with 3 points after defeating top seed WIM Nurgali Nazerke of Kazakhstan in the 2nd round and 6th seed WFM Chuemsakul Sarocha of Thailand in the 3rd round. Six players scored 2.5 points lead by 4th seed Jalali Saba (IRI) and 1oth seed WCM Pham Tran Gia Thu (VIE).

Girls Under 16

Four players, Abbaspoorrad Nikoo (IRI), WIM Deshmukh Divya (IND), Sun Jihan (CHN) and WFM Patil Bhagyashree (IND) won their three matches to take an early lead girls under 16. My Hanh An Nguyen (VIE) defeated top seed Balabayeva Xeniya (KAZ) in the 2nd round to share 5th to 8th place with WFM Patel Dhyana (IND), K Ratnapriya (IND), and Gupta Anushka of India.

Girls Under 14

Top seed Ngo Minh Hang of Vietnam garnered a perfect 3 points to share the lead with 5 other players; Kumawat Dakshita (IND), Baldanjantsan Khuslenzaya (MGL), WCM Sanudula K M Dahamdi (SRI) and Hajatniya Reyhaneh (IRI).

Girls Under 12

Seven players amass 3 points to share the lead after three rounds, lead by 2nd seed Nguyen Kim Ngan Hau of Vietnam and 3rd seed Kaliakhmet Elnaz of Kazakhstan.

Girls Under 10

Surprisingly, only the 10th seed Zarkym Ailin of Kazakshtan was the highest seed to score 3 points. She shared the lead with 13th seed Tong Thai Hoang An (VIE), Altynbek Aiaru (KAZ), Erdenesaikhan Zol-Uchral (MGL), Beminiwatte A W M Arundi (SRI) and 85th seed N Pavithra of India.

Girls Under 8

In the Girls under 8 category 10 girls shared the lead including 4th seed Sholpanbek Zhansaya of Kazakhstan and 5th seed Rastgar Arshida of Iran.

The Sri Lanka Girls Youth Chess contingent is competing in the Asian Youth Online Girls Chess Championships 2021. The National Youth girls Chess team, which consists of 17 female Chess players of 3 players each from under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 ages are selected from the Sri Lanka Youth Age Group Chess Championships 2021 of under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18, Open and Girls. The top three players of these events are included while 2 fourth players are included due to the absence of GHS Sanulya in under 12 and Sandeepani M Tharushi in under 16.event.
