Bangladesh Golden Jubilee of Independence Tournament Starts

The Golden Jubilee of Independence Premier Division Chess League and First Division Chess League, sponsored by Shah Cement, started from today Thursday at Crown Hall of Level 11 of Asia Hotel & Resort on Topkhana Road and Hall Room of Bangladesh Chess Federation. Before the start of the game, Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation KM Shahidullah, General secretary Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, Additional DIG of Bangladesh Police and joint secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation Dr. Shoeib Reaz Alam officially inaugurated this year’s Premier Division Chess League. Joint Secretary Masudur Rahman Mallik Dipu, Executive Member Moniruzzaman Palash, International Organizer Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly and Sajal Mahmud were present on the occasion. The Premier Division Chess League matches started after the official inauguration. In the first round match of the Premier Division, the last year champion Bangladesh Police defeated the newcomer Manha’s Castle in the Premier Division by 2.5-1.5 game points. On behalf of Bangladesh Police, Indian Grandmaster D, Gukesh and Grandmaster Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib defeated CM Sohel Chowdhury and Jabed Al Azad of Manhass Castle respectively and Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Police drew with Indian Grandmaster Mendenko Leon Luke of Manha’s Castle. The Indian Grandmaster Harsha Bhrathakoti of Manha’s Castle defeated the Indian National Champion Grandmaster Erigaisi Arjun of Bangladesh Police.

Saif Sporting Club defeated Rupali Bank Krira Parisad by 2.5-1.5 game points. On behalf of Saif Sporting Club, Grandmaster Niaz Murshed and Grandmaster of Iran Idani Pouya defeated CM Sadnan Hasan Dihan and Indian Grandmaster Sankalp Gupta of Rupali Bank Krira Parisad espectively. Anata Chowdhury of Rupali Bank Krira Parisad defeated National champion Grandmaster Enamul Hossain Razib of Saif Sporting Club. Georgia Grandmaster Mikheil Mchedlishvili of Saif Sporting Club drew with Indian Grandmaster Srinath Narayanan of Rupali Bank Krika Parisad.

Last year’s runners-up Shahin Chess Club defeated Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society by 3-1 game points. CM Md. Shawket Bin Osman Shaon, two Indian International Masters Aditya Mittal and V Pranav of Shahin Chess Club won against FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Panesar Vedant and Md Anisur rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society. Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society’s Indian FIDE Master S Harshad defeated FIDE Master Debaraj Chatterjee of Shahin Chess Club.

Bangladesh Biman defeated Sheikh Russell Chess Club by 2.5-1.5 game points in the first match. Indian Grandmaster Mitrabha Guha and Candidate Master Nayem Haque defeated Shafiq Ahmed and Saqlain Mostafa Sajid of Sheikh Russell Chess Club respectively. Indian Grandmaster Abhimanyu Puranik of Biman draw with the Indian Grandmaster Shyam Sundar of Sheikh Russell Chess Club. Indian Grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh Sheikh Russell Chess Club defeated Bangladesh Biman’s FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia.

Uttara Central Chess Club drew with Bangladesh Navy by 2-2 game points. Uttara Central Chess Club’s Indian International Master Bharath Subramaniyam defeated International Master Mohammad Mihnaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy. FIDE Master Khandaker Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy defeated Candidate Master Manon Reja Neer of Uttara Central Chess Club. Indian FIDE Master Nitish Belurkar and Candidate Master Ikramul Haque Siam of Uttara Central Chess Club drew with FIDE Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed and FIDE Master Subrota Biswas of Bangladesh Navy respectively.

Titas Club drew with Leonine Chess Club by 2-2 game points. On behalf of Titas Club, Indian International Master Mohammad Nubairshah Sheikh CM Saiful Islam Chowdhury defeated Md Abzid Rahman and asif Mahmud of Leonine Chess Club respectively. Indian twon international Masters Srijit Paul and Aronyak Ghosh of Leonine Chess Club won against CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh and Indian Grandmaster Himanshu Sharma respectively. The second round matches will start tomorrow (Friday) at 4:00 pm at Hotel Asia.

The first division chess league matches started from today (Thursday) in the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room. In the first round match, Palli Sanchay Bank defeated Agrani Bank Daba Dal by 4-0 game points, Basir Memorial Chess Club defeated Kasparov Chess Club by 3.5-0.5 game points, Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar defeated Esoft Arena Chess Club by 2.5-1.5 game points, Khelaghor Daba Snagah, Gopalganj beat Journalist Shahnoor Khan Smriti Sangsad by 3.5-0.5 game points, Dhaka Chess Club beat Mir Chess Club by 2.5-1.5 game points and Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club beat Access Chess Club by 2.5-1.5 game Point. The official opening ceremony of the first division chess league will be held on tomorrow (Friday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room. After the ceremony, the second round match will start from 4:00 pm in the same venue
