
Bangladesh is in solo lead at the points table with maximum 8 points after the end of the 4th round games of the six-nation Sheikh Russell Cup Invitational Team Chess Championship 2022, sponsored by Saif Powertech Limited. The tournament is held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Russell Day.
Sri Lanka is in 2nd position with 6 points. Nepal & Pakistan are jointly in 3rd position with 4 points each. The 4th round matches were held 16th October at the Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room.
In the 4th round, Bangladesh defeated Maldives by 4-0 game points. On behalf of Bangladesh, GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Niaz Murshed, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman & IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin won against FM Mohammad Shuaau, CM Mohammed Hassan, and Ahmed Aman Ibrahim and Abdullah Mufeedh of Maldives respectively.

Sri Lanka beat Nepal by 3½-½ game points. IM L M S T De Silva, FM Liyanage Ranindu Dilshan and Kaluarachchi Achinthya Shamen of Sri Lanka won against FM Rajbhandari Rajendra, FM Bilam Lal Shrestha and Shrestha Rajendra Prasad of Nepal respectively. Singhesor Das of Nepal drew with Tennakoon Lisara Samadhit of Sri Lanka.

Pakistan beat Bhutan by 4-0 game points. FIDE Masters Amer Karim, Junaid Sohail, FM Muhammad Waqar and Khalil-Ur-Rahman of Pakistan won against Karma Sonam, Rai Binod, Sonam Choen and Sangay Nidup of Bhutan respectively.
5th round games will start on 17th October from 3-00 PM at the same venue. The 5th round matches are: Sri Lanka Vs. Pakistan, Bangladesh Vs. Nepal and Bhutan Vs. Maldives.
