Begum Laila Alam 12th FIDE Rating Women’s Chess Tournament, under the financial patronage of veteran chess player Begum Laila Alam and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation began from today (Thursday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room. Visit chess-results.com.
A total of 49 women including two Women Internationa Masters and 3 Women FIDE Masters are participating in this competition. Before start of the games the inauguration ceremony was held, Begum Laila Alam inaugurated the event as chief guest. WIM Rani Hamid and three sons of Begum Laila Alam: Wali Alam, Wazir Alam and Waqi Alam were present as special guests. Anjum Ara Aksir, Executive Member and Chairman of Women’s Committee presided over the ceremony and IO Mahmuda Haque Chowdhury Moly Member of the Executive Committee and Member-Secretary of Women’s Committee of Bangladesh Chess Federation gave speech in the ceremony.
AThe competition is being held in a 7-round Swiss-league system and the winners will be awarded a total of eighty thousand Taka in cash prizes, crests, medals and certificates.
