
The closing ceremony of the Rohingya School Teachers Chess Training was held 25th July in hybrid style at Refugee and Repatriation Camp-5, Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh with participation by Zoom of FIDE and Asian Chess Federation officials.
The social project was organized by the Bangladesh Chess Federation with the cooperation of the South Asian Chess Council, Office of Refugees and Repatriation Commissioner’s (RRRC), UNICEF and Jagoani Chakra Foundation.




Asian Chess Federation General Secretary Hisham Al Tahir and FIDE Executive Director GM Victor Vologan, Casto Abundo Casto, Special Adviser of FIDE President and Executive Director of Asian Chess Federation, Mr. Berik Balgabaev, Advisor of the FIDE President were present as special guests on Zoom.
Mr. Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, President FIDE Zone-3.2 & General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation presided over the ceremony. Md. Ahosan Habib, Senior Assistant Secretary, attached to Refugees Relief & Repatriation Commissioner‘s Office (RRRC) of Camp In Charge of Camp-5 was present as special guest.
International Chess Arbiter Md. Haroon Or Rashid, & Md. Abul Kashem Mozumder Project Focal of Jagorni Chakra Foundation spoke on the occasion.

A total of 30 school teacher’s from 30 Rohingya school camps participated in this training programme. FIDE Trainer GM Enamul Hossain Razib, International Chess Arbiter Md. Haroon Or Rashid and FIDE Instructor Showkat Hossain Pollab gave training on different subjects of how to teach children and school students. At the end of the training. The main objective of organising this training program was to teach the game of chess to the students studying in Rohingya camp schools.

A total of 300 chess boards and pieces were distributed to 30 schools with each school receiving ten sets of chessboards with pieces and copies of chess books on how to learn chess including its rules.
