
The India B Chess Team won the Online Asian Nations Cup 2022 – Under 14 Open event tied at 16 match points each with Philippines A team and prevailing with a better tie break score. India B team beat Hong Kong (3 ½ – 1 1/2), Malaysia (2 ½ – 1 1/2 ), Philippine Knights (4-0), Singapore Open 1 (2 ½ – 1 1/2), Mongolia (3-1), Singapore open 2 (3 ½ – ½ ) with 2 draws with Philippines A and India A Teams. India Girls A team dominated the Girls event just giving 1 draw to Mongolian Girls scoring 17 match points out of a possible 18. They beat Sri Lanka Team (Red) (3-1), Hong Konh (4-0), New Zealand Girls (4-0), Singapore Girls 1 (4-0), Malaysia (2 ½ – 1 ½ ), Team Philippines (3-1), India B (3 ½ – ½ ) and Sri Lanka Green (4-0) to reach 17 points and the title.

Philippines also scored 16 points in Open section but had to satisfy themselves with the Silver medal on the lower tie breaker. Philippines A team beat Sri Lanka C (2 ½ – 1 ½ ), New Zealand (3 – 1), Thailand (4-0), Singapore 1 (3 – 1), India A (2 ½ – 1 ½ ), Philippine Knights (2 ½ – 1 ½ ) and Sri Lanka B (3-1) with two draws with India B and Malaysia A to reach the Silver Medal.
India A also had a good event and placed 3rd in points with 17 match points. But they were not eligible to get the Bronze on the tournament regulations where a country can win only one trophy. So, the Singapore A team got the opportunity for the Bronze Medal scoring 11 match points. Singapore scored against Bahrain (4-0), Mongolia(3-1), Malaysia B (4-0), Sri Lanka A (3-1), Hong Kong (2 ½ – 1 ½ ) and drew with Malaysia A (2-2) to earn 11 match points. They lost 3 matches with India A(3 ½ – ½ ), India B(2 ½ – 1 ½ ) and Philippine A (3-1)

Singapore Girls A and Mongolian Girls both teams scored 14 match points out of 18 but, Singapore won the Silver Medal with the better tie break. Singapore Girls A beat Singapore Girls 2 (3-1), India Team B (2 ½ -1 ½), Sri Lanka Team Green (4-0), Malaysia A 2 ½ – 1 ½) Sri Lanka Team Red (4-0) and New Zealand (4-0).
Mongolian Girls had to satisfy themselves with the 3rd place scoring wins against Hong Kong (3-1), New Zealand (3-1), Sri Lanka Red (3-1), Sri Lanka Blue (2 ½ – 1 ½ ), Team Philippines Girls (3-1), drew with Singapore Girls (2-2) and India A (2-2) to win the Bronze Medal. Only loss of them is against Malaysia A Team.

The Online Asian Nations Cup (Open & Girls) 2022- Under 14 Year, conducted by the Asian Chess Federation was organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on 25th, 26th and 27th of March 2022 at the Tornelo platform. A total of 33 teams from 12 countries participated, namely Bahrain. Hong Kong, India, Maldives, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, UAE and Sri Lanka. The event was held on the rapid time control of 15 minutes + 10 second increments and was played according to the Swiss System for teams in 9 rounds as Open and Girls.
