Dr. Abul Kashem Chowdhury Memorial 2nd International Rating Chess Tournament

FIDE Master Subrota Biswas became champion in the category ‘A’ of the Dr. Abul Kashem Chowdhury Memorial 2^nd International Rating Chess Tournament, sponsored by KN-Harbor Consortium Ltd. FM Subrota (at right in photo above) earned 7 points to clinch the title. GM Ziaur Rahman became runner-up with 6½ points and FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia became 3^rd with 6 points. IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin became 4^th and CM Manon Reja Neer became 5^th with 5 points each.

Eight players earned 4½ points each. Their positions are: 6^th-WFM Nazrana Khan Eva, 7^th– CM Md. Sharif Hossain, 8^th-FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, 9^th-Shafiq Ahmed, 10^th– CM Md Jamal Uddin, 11^th– Anata Choudhury, 12^th-Md Abu Hanif, 13^th-CM Md Shawket Bin Osman Shaon, Six players earned 4 points each. Their positions are: 14^th-FM Khandekar Aminul Islam, 15^th-Md. Masum Hossain, 16^th-CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh, 17^th-Md. Abzid Rahman, 18^th-CM Sohel Chowdhury and 19^th-Md Sariatullah. WFM Noshin Anjum and Ummer Taslima Protiva Talukdar got special female prizes.

Tutul Dhar (above right) became unbeaten champion in the Category ‘B’ event. Tutul earned 8 points to clinch the title.

Three players earned 7½ points each. In tie-breaking system among them Feroz Ahmed became runner-up, Dewan Md. Riad became 3^rd and Abdul Momin became 4^th. Three players earned 7 points each. Their positions are: 5^th-Sakline Mostafa Sajid, 6^th-Md Siddiqur Rahman and 7^th-Mukitul Islam Ripon.

Fourteen players 6½ points each, in tie-breaking system among them 8 players became 8^th to 15^th position. They are: Md. Sajidul Haque, Md. Azmaeen Parvez Sayor, Md Ariful Amin, Md Abu Jafor Siddik, Mahin Ahmed Shuvo, Sk. Rashedul Hasan and Yasir Ali Khan Evan.

Rating categories prizes go to: Md Nasir Uddin, Din Mohammad, Md Zia Uddin, Md Mesbah Uddin, Sankar Sarkar and Mamunur Rashid. Female special prizes goes to Wadifa Ahmed and Neelava Choudhury. Ages categories prizes goes to: Indian Deboushnik De, Israt Jahan Diba, Warsia Khusbu and Siam Chowdhury.

Three lac taka prize money will be given to category ‘A’ winners and two lac eight thousand taka prize money will be given to category ‘B’ winners.
