FM Pham Tran Gia Phuc of Vietnam prevailed in a 3-way tie for first in the Quang Ninh GM1 chess tournament held 14-19 May 2024 in Ha Long Ward, Ha Long City and organized by Vietnam Chess Federation. Gia Phuc scored 7 points in the 9-round RR together with GM Priasmoro Novendra of Indonesia and IM Laohawirapap Prin of Thailand. Gia Phuc and Prin each achieved a GM norm.
