GM Mamikon Gharibyan of Armenia (above left) beat IM Rudik Makarian of Russia in the 10th round to grab solo lead with 8 points after the penultimate round of the World Junior Chess Championship in Gujarat, India. Four players are in second slot with 7.5 points each, namely IM Kazybek Nogerbek of Kazakhstan, GM Emin Ohanyan of Armenia, IM Daniel Quizon of the Philippines and GM Luka Budisavljevic of Serbia.

In the World Girls Championship, IM Divya Deshmukh (above) of host India beat compatriot WFM Jian Sachi to maintain her solo lead with 9 points out of 10 rounds. Half a point behind is WIM Marian Mikrtchyan of Armenia while two other players trail with 7.5 points each, namely WGM Ravi Rakshitta of India and WIM Ayan Allahjverdiyeva of Azerbaijan.
