Hong Kong will welcome young chess players from across Eastern Asia for the Eastern Asia Juniors and Girls Chess Championships 2026, organised by the Hong Kong China Chess Federation. The event will take place from 22 to 30 December 2026, with competition scheduled for 23–29 December at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai.
The championships are open to eligible players from member federations of Eastern Asia Zones 3.3 and 3.5 who were born on or after 1 January 2006. Entries must be endorsed by the players’ national chess federations.
The tournament will comprise nine rounds played under the Swiss system. Each player will have 90 minutes for the entire game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move from move one. The championships offer opportunities to earn direct titles and title norms, subject to the applicable FIDE title regulations and eligibility requirements.
Players will arrive on 22 December. A mandatory players’ meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. on 23 December, followed by the first round at 4:00 p.m. The final round will begin at 10:00 a.m. on 29 December, with the closing ceremony following the completion of play. Departure is scheduled for 30 December.
Under the regulations, two official players nominated by each participating federation will pay a total entry fee of USD 275 per player. Other federation-registered players will pay USD 350 per player. Official players will receive complimentary accommodation in shared double rooms. Other participants are advised to arrange accommodation early.
Registration is available through the official tournament website. The registration deadline is 12 noon on 20 December 2026. The regulations specify a payment deadline of 1 December 2026 for foreign entries; federations and players should contact the organisers in advance to confirm payment arrangements.
The Girls event may be merged with the Boys event if the participation requirements specified in the regulations are not met.
National federations are invited to nominate their representatives and support their junior players in this regional championship.
