India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia Lead Asian Gold Medal Haul in World Youth

Asians led the gold medal haul in the World Youth Chess Championships held 6-16 September 2022 in Mamaia, Romania. Ilamparthi A R of India won the Under-14 Open, Nurgaliyeva Zarina of Kazakhstan topped the Under-14 Girls, IM Pranav Anand of India won the Under-16 Open and WFM Munkhzul Davaakhuu of Mongolia triumphed in the Under-16 Girls. National chess federations also competed for the titles in the team standings. The first place trophy went to India (photo below) with two golds, Kazakhstan came second with one gold, one silver, and one bronze, Armenia with one gold medal is third.
