Iran and India Men Draw to Maintain 1-2 Lead. China Women Beat Kazakhstan

Iran men drew 2:2 with India to maintain their 1-2 position at the halfway 5th round of the Asian Games Chess Team Championship in Hangzhou, China. GM Parham Maghsoodloo of Iran beat GM Gukesh on top board to register his 4th win for a performance rating of 2871. GM Praggnababdhaa evened the score for India by beating GM Amin Tabatabaei of Iran for a performance rating of 2912. The other two boards split the point.

In the women’s division, China edged Kazakhstan 2.5-1.5 on wins by Hou Yifan and Zhu Jiner to maintain solo lead with 9 match points.  Dinara Saduakassova countered for Kazakhstan by beating WGM Zhai Mao. India is a close second after blanking Mongolia 4:0. Four other teams follow with 6 match points each.
