Iran men edged Mongolia 2.5-1.5 while India scored similar slate against Vietnam in the 7th round to maintain their 1-2 pole position in the homestretch of the Asian Games Chess Team Championship in Hangzhou, China. Uzbekistan shutout Korea 4:0 to climb to third slot. China similarly shutout Thailand to stay within striking distance in fourth slot.

In the women’s division, China beat Indonesia 3.5-0.5 to pull away with 13 match points as second running India was held to a 2-2 draw by third running Kazakhstan. With two rounds to go, China is a shoo in for the gold with 13 match points. India has 11 match points followed by Kazakhstan with 9 match points. Four teams are in the running for bronze with 8 match points each.
