Leaders Draw Men’s Round 6. China and India Set the Pace among women

Iran and India drew 2:2 with Vietnam and China, respectively, to maintain their 1-2 men’s position in 6th round of the Asian Games Chess Team Championship in Hangzhou, China. GM Parham Maghsoodloo led the Iran team with his 5th point in 6 games for a performance rating of 2921. GM Le Tuan Minh of Vietnam countered by beating GM Idani Pouya as the other boards were drawn. Vietnam and Uzbekistan are tied for third slot at 8 match points each followed by China with 7 match points.

In the women’s division, China dominated Vietnam 3.5-0.5 while India blanked Uzbekistan 4:0 to maintain their 1-2 position after six rounds. Kazakhstan drubbed the Philippines 3.5-0.5 to stay close in third slot.

China’s Hou Yifan scored her 5th point in 6 games. GM Zhu Jinier and WGM Zhai Mo scored for China to lead with 11 match points. The powerhouse Indian team of Knoeru Humpy, Rameshbabu Vaishali, Agrawal Vantika and Sri Savitha shutout Uzbekistan to stay in second slot with 10 match points. Kazakhstan is in third slot with 8 match points.
