Elections took place as scheduled in Islamabad, on 4th June 2022 at 12:30 PM, Serena Hotel, Khayaban-e-Suharwardy, G-5/1, Islamabad, and were properly registered (video recording, signed protocols).
It should be noted that these elections were supported and greatly assisted by the Asian Chess Federation that has delegated a representative as a member of the Electoral Commission (a respected lawyer, Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan) and an observer (Honorable Dr. Rashid Alanezi), and the Pakistan Sport Board that has delegated an observer from their side (Mr. Mohammad Shahid, Deputy DG Technical).
The following Election Commission was formed:
- Election Commissioner: Dana Reizniece – Ozola – FIDE Managing Director, Reverse Delegate;
- Member – Aleksandr Martynov – FIDE Legal Advisor;
- Member Khalil Ahmed Khan – Legal Advisor, Asian Chess Federation;
Observer: Dr. Rashid Alazni, Asian Chess Federation;
Observer: Mohammad Shahid, Deputy DG Technical, Pakistan Sports Board.

It is gratifying to note that almost all the participants in the elections found consensus and agreed to work together, so both the President and other officials were elected by a majority of 14 votes out of 17. Representatives of one of the provinces left the meeting, but the available number of voters (14) is more than significant even compared to the potential maximum number of voters (20).
I would also like to highlight the enormous effort that FIDE Legal Advisor Mr. Aleksandr Martynov, Ratings Officer Gennady Rakhvalov and FIDE COO Sava Stoisavjlevic have provided to the Reverse Delegate. Their professional input has been invaluable in the everyday management and provision of the election process.
