Join the 1st Maharashtra International Open GM Chess Tournament 31 May to 8 June 2022 in , Pune, Maharashtra, India.
• The tournament is open for players who have a Standard FIDE rating of 2000
and above in the current rating list.
• The Tournament shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of
11 rounds on a Swiss-League basis.
• Each player shall have 90 minutes with an addition of 30 seconds per move
starting from move one

Two Share Lead in Marcel Invitational International Rating Chess Tournament

IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin & CM Md. Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy are now jointly leading the points table with 5 points each after 6th round games in the Marcel Invitational International Rating Chess Tournament, sponsored by Walton Hi-Tech Industries plc and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation at the Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room in Dhaka.

Seven players are sharing 2nd position with 4½ points each. They are: CM Manon Reja Neer of Uttara Central Chess Club FIDE, FM Khandaker Aminul & Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, Anata Choudhury of Rupali Bank Krira Parisad, Shafiq Ahmed of Sheikh Russel Chess Club, CM Mohammad Jamal Uddin of Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar and Md. Sariatullah of Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club.

Four players are sharing 3rd position with 4 points each. They are: FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society, Md. Abu Hanif of Access Club, Feroz Ahmed of Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club and Din Mohammad.

IM Quizon Wins 2nd Kamatyas FIDE Rated Invitational Rapid Chess Tournament

IM Daniel Quizon won the 2nd Kamatyas FIDE Rated Invitational Rapid Chess Tournament last Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the MultiSys Headquarters Multinational Village in Paranaque City, Philippines.

The Dasmariñas City bet Quizon split the point with IM Barlo Nadera to score 7.5 points in 9 outings and create a three-way tie for first place with GM Darwin Laylo, who drew with Chester Neil Reyes and FM Randy Segarra, who brought down IM Ronald Dableo.
Quizon took the title via superior tie break points against runner-up Laylo and third placer Segarra.

“I didn’t look to defend my title, just to play my best,” said,Quizon, a member of the famous Dasmariñas Chess Academy under the guidance of Rep. Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga Jr. and National Coach FM Roel Abelgas.

“I knew that this was a tough tournament with all the players. I just tried to play my best and now I am really happy,” added Quizon who is part of the National Team bound for THE 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) in Hanoi, Vietnam next month.
Sharing fourth to seventh places were Reyes, Nadera, Jerry Areque and FM Robert Suelo Jr. who got 7.0 points each.

Rounding up the top 10 finishers with 6.5 points each were Narquingel “Archie” Reyes, IM Chito Garma and FM Narquingden “Arden” Reyes.

Category winners were GM Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr., (top senior), IM Angelo Young (top PWD), WIM Kylen Joy Mordido (top lady), NM Mark Jay Bacojo (top junior), NM Al-Basher Buto (top kiddies), NM Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr., Joey Villar and Reymundo Gregorio Nillama (top media).

The 2nd edition Kamatyas FIDE Rated Invitational Rapid Chess Tournament, backed up by founder and CEO of software engineering solutions provider Multisys Technologies Corp. David Almirol Jr.,  was organized by Kamatyas Chess Club headed by IM Roderick Nava and was sanctioned by National Chess Federation of the Philippines and supervised by the Philippine Arbiters Chess Confederation (PACC).


Earlier, Almirol, Nava and Asia’s First GM Eugene Torre made the ceremonial moves kicking off the one-day tournament assisted by Tournament Director NA Byron Gabrentina Villar and Chief Arbiter IA Reden Cruz.

Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia won ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship Team Awards. Over 500 players from nine countries participated, namely Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam. The tournament was organized by the Asian Chess Federation and hosted by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines from 19-21 April 2022 on Tornelo. Vyanla Punsalan is the 2022 NZ Women’s Champion

WFM Vyanla Punsalan claimed the title with a perfect score of 7.0/7 in the 7-round tournament which was held from April 17 to April 20. WCM Isabelle Ning and Weiyang Yu shared the second place on 5.0/7. The full list of prize winners is on the Results page.

Sri Lanka National Open and Women’s Chess Championship 2022

 

The Sri Lanka National Chess Championships 2022 (Open & women’s) will be held on 23rd, 24th 25th, 28th, 29th , 30th of April and  1st of May 2022 at the Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research Institute, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07. The events are 13 round, Round Robin events and the selection events for the Sri Lanka National Men & Women Teams for the FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022(Top five players) and the Asian Games 2022 (If the Olympic Committee confirms Chess I the team).

The National Chess Champion, Susal De Silva and the SL Number 1 ranked (over 2300), Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage will play as direct entries in the Open event. Unfortunately, the Women’s National Chess Champion, Tharushi Niklesha and Harshana Thilakarathne (Over 2300) has withdrawn her from the right of play due to academic reasons.

So, 1st twelve players of the Sri Lanka National (Premier Division) .Chess Championship 2022 and the top 14 players of the Sri Lanka Women’s National (Premier Division) Chess Championship 2022 are eligible to play in the event.
