Saikhansambuu Naranbat Elected President of Mongolian Chess Federation

Mr. Saikhansambuu Naranbat (right) has been elected President of the Mongolian Chess Federation at Presidential elections held 4th November 2023. Asian Chess Federation President Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan sent congratulations to the newly elected President.
Mr. Naranbat was born in 1987 and he is the CEO of one of the leading group of companies of Mongolia called Narantuul Trade LLC. He graduated from secondary school in Germany and his university at the national intelligence academy. His father is a former member of Mongolian parliament, Mr. Saikhansambuu Shinesambuu.

Guam Children Aim for Asian Youth Chess Championship

Guam children are ready to compete in the Asian Youth Chess Championship scheduled 12-22 December 2023 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Guam Chess Federation president Almer Santos said they are fielding 22 participants. Deadline for registration is on 12th November 2023. Those who need visas must submit the necessary documents before the deadline of 12th November 2023. The Entry Fee is USD 75 for an Official Player and USD 150 for an Additional PlayerAfter the deadline of 12th November 2023, the OC reserves the right to refuse late registration, or accept subject to availability with a late penalty of USD 50 for each entry.

Cavite Beats Surigao, Cagayan in Professional Chess Association of the Philippines

By Marlon Bernardino – The Cavite Spartans scored huge twin kills last Wednesday, November 8 in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament being held at Chess.com Platform, beating the Surigao and Cagayan. The Cavite Spartans continued its momentum after extending its winning streak to ten games.

After blasting the Surigao Fianchetto Checkmates, 17-4, in the opener and the last game of the Inter Division meet, the Cavite chessers crippled the Cagayan Kings, 14.5-6.5, in the nightcap at the start of 2nd Elimination Round of the Northern Division to raise their total to 15 wins against 3 losses.

The Joel Delfin and Benjie Ramos Bercadez-coached squad remained in solo third place in the Northern Conference standings with a 15-3 win-loss record behind the 1st place Pasig City King Pirates (18-0) and the 2nd place San Juan Predators (16-2).

Pasig City King Pirates defeated Toledo-Xignex Trojans, 16.5-4.5, and Isabela Knights of Alexander, 15-6, while San Juan Predators toppled Davao Durianburg Stallions, 17-4, and Quezon City Simba’s Tribe, 16.5-4.5.

Cavite walloped Surigao in the blitz event, 6-1, with full points each from Jovert Valenzuela (Board 1), Melizah Ruth Carreon (Board 3), WIM Marie Antoinette San Diego (Board 5), Jayson Visca (Board 6) and Renie Malupa (Board 7) and split by IM Oleg Badmatsyrenov (Board 2) and GM Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. (Board 4).

The Spartans also dominated Surigao in the rapid event, 11-3, following full two pointers each from Badmatsyrenov, WIM Bernadette Galas, Antonio, Paraguya and Mirano and split by NM Raymond Salcedo. Board 6 Alexis Emil Maribao, however, was stunned by Rhenz Rhean Auza.

After their blitz encounter ended in a 3.5-all deadlock, Badmatsyrenov destroyed Jake Tumaliuan in their rapid duel to power Cavite to a 11-3 thrashing of Cagayan.

Badmatsyrenov also got help from San Diego, FM Carlos Edgardo Garma, Paraguya and Maribao as Kevin Mirano split the point.

San Diego trounced April Joy Ramos, Garma outpointed Jose Jude Ulanday, Paraguya crushed Alexander Jude Malabad, Maribao subdued Robert Mania and Mirano drew with Bancelie Fernandez.

San Diego beat NM Rogelio Enriquez Jr. of Surigao in 26 moves of London Jobava System in the blitz portion.

PCAP, the country’s first play-for-pay league, is headed by PCAP President Atty. Paul Elauria, chairman Michael Angelo Ong Chua,  PCAP treasurer Atty. The children of the Chinese Taipei Chess Association have trained for the Asian Youth Chess Championship scheduled 12-22 December 2023 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Chinese Taipei registered a total of 43 participants including players and accompanying parents,

Deadline for registration is on 12th November 2023. Those who need visas must submit the necessary documents before the deadline of 12th November 2023. IM Paolo Bersamina Wins 3rd AQ Prime Chess Tournament

IM Paolo Bersamina won the 3rd AQ Prime FIDE Standard Chess Open alone with 7.5 points out of 9 rounds. The tournament was held from 28th October to 5th November at the 2nd Floor Exhibit Area near the Medical Depot of Ayala Malls, Manila Bay, Diosdado Macapagal corner Aseana Avenue, Parañaque City, Philippines.

Bersamina took home P50,000 and trophy; followed by Sherwin Tiu with P30,000 cash prize and medal. AGM Kimuel Aaron Lorenzo settled for third for P20,000 and medal while IM Rolando Nolte earned P15,000 and IM Daniel Quizon got P12,000 making the top five finishers.-Marlon Bernardino-

The All India Chess Federation is sending a big delegation to the Asian Youth Chess Championship, 12-22 December 2023 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Well known for the strength of its children, Indian medalists from previous Asian Youth Chess Championships will try to repeat their victory but this time against a stronger field including Russian youth.

The Indian youth are hungry for competition specially after they had to withdraw at the last minute from the World Cadets Championship last month.

Cavite Extends Winning Streak in Professional Chess Association of the Philippines

The Cavite Spartans maintained its momentum after extending its winning streak to eight games in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament on Saturday, November 4 being held at Chess.com Platform,

They currently have a 13-3 win-loss record in the Northern Division standings following an 11.5-9.5 beating of Toledo-Xignex Trojans and a 17.5-3.5 triumph over Iloilo Kisela Knights.

Pasig City King Pirates still on top with a 16-0 slate following a 16.5-4.5 win over NegOr SAGAR Sports and a 17-4 demolition against Davao Durianburg Stallions.

San Juan Predators (14-2), on the other hand, maintained their number 2 position with a 18.5 -2.5 victory over RCM Cebu Niños and a 19-2 win over NegOr SAGAR Sports.

After losing the blitz game against Toledo-Xignex Trojans, 5.5-1.5, the Cavite Spartans bounced back in the rapid event, 10-4, on full points by GM Aleksey Sorokin (Board 1), FM Carlos Edgardo Garma (Board 4), Alexis Emil Maribao (Board 6) and Kevin Mirano (Board 7) and a split by GM Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. (Board 2 in photo below) and WIM Bernadette Galas (Board 3).

” It was a good pair of victories for us. We just have to keep our team at the upper part of the Northern Division standings,” said Antonio, who drew with FM David Elorta of Toledo in the blitz game.

“We had a tough time against Toledo in the blitz but good thing we were able to recover in the rapid game,” said Michael Metrio, who brought down IM Rico Mascarinas of Toledo in the blitz portion.

Against Iloilo in the rapid event, Anatoly Pascua, Sorokin, Galas, Antonio, AGM Voltaire Marc Paraguya, Mirano and Maribao joined forces beating NM Rolly Parondo Jr, NM Fritz Bryan Porras, Jovelyn Sepaton, NM Cesar Mariano, Mark Jossel  Mariano, Horizon Villanueva and NM John Michael Silvederio, respectively.

Earlier, Cavite and Iloilo settled for a 3.5-3.5 tie in the blitz category.

Sorokin, NM Rommel Ganzon and Rene Malupa provided the full points while Antonio Almodal III drew his game.

Inspired Kazakhstan Children Joining Asian Youth Chess Championship

Inspired by the success of their elder brothers and sisters, Kazakhstan children look forward to their participation in the Asian Youth Chess Championship scheduled 12 to 22 December 2023 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

The 2023 event will be the strongest Asian Youth championships, with the new participation of Russian champions, a rising Mongolia and medal winners from Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan has registered 70 participants across all age groups for boys and girls.
