Recarte Tiauson Wins Magayon Chess Club Monthly Rapid Open

MANILA—Recarte Tiauson of Barangay Capucnasan Municipality of Milao again stamped his class in the Magayon Chess Club Monthly Open Rapid Chess Tournament held in Legazpi City, Albay last November 12.
The 35-year-old Tiauson , who topped the Paraw Chess Festival in Pilar, Sorsogon and Malilipot Open Chess Tournament in Malilipot, Albay, bagged the top spot in the Gubat Invitational Chess tournament in Gubat, Sorsogon and San Fernando Invitational Chess Championship in San Fernando, Camarines Sur.
Tiauson , who presently worked as Technical Service Manager at Five9 Philippines, completed the 7-round Swiss system tilt with the highest score of 6.5 points to grab the title.
Among his victims were Ricdaniel Gorostiaga  in the first round,  James Ryan Fernandez in the second round, Danilo Borela  in the third round, Danny Bon  in the fourth round, Christian Paul Barroga in the fifth round, Rene del Castillo in the sixth round.
He split the points with Noel Leron in the seventh and final round.
It shall be recalled that Tiauson finished a strong third in the 8th HDBank Cup International Open Chess Tournament Challenger category title at the Army Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2018.
Tiauson, playing under the guidance of Mayor Anthony “Lahbas” Reyes and Vice Mayor Leodel Menes is in a rigid training right now for the upcoming Manny Pacquiao International Open Chess Festival set this December in General Santos City
