Sanudula of Sri Lanka Wins U-1800 Queens Chess title

Sanudula Dahamdi of Musaeus College won the Rating Category event of 1600 – 1799 of the Queens Chess Festival Blitz Chess Championships 2022 which ended 26 June and was conducted by the FIDE Women’s Commission. She scored 7 points out of 9 Games with wins against Pasipanodya Valentine (ZIM), Jimenez Salas Maria Teresa (PER), Davari Sara (Iran), Lampard Alice (Scotland), Castillo Beitia Ashley Alexandra (Panama), Orbe Vivero Veronica Priscila (Ecuador) and  drew with Pragnya H G (India) and Vicze Zsofia (Austria) and lost to Stadlinger Lea (Austria), to get 7 points and the Gold Medal.
For her victory, FIDE is offering her the opportunity of witnessing the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 which is starting on 27th of next month in India.
The Queens Chess Festival Online Blitz Chess Championships 2022 conducted by the Women Commission of FIDE for the 2nd consecutive year in 4 rating categories, Under 1600, 1600 – 1799, 1800 – 1999, 2000 – 2200, from 5th to 26th June 2022 in the Tornelo Platform.
1400 players from all over the World participated in the event in all four categories which was organized as 4 continental Championships in Africa, America, Asia and Europe. The top three players of each continent played a round robin event in the Finals. 19 players from Sri Lanka participated in the qualification events.
