IM Sharan Rao scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win All India Rapid Rating Open 2024 held 22nd and 23rd June 2024 at Hubli, Karnataka.
He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Prajwal P Shet and CM Soham Datar scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. Sharan defeated India’s 85th and latest GM P Shyam Nikhil in the final round to become the champion.
The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹35000 + trophy, ₹25000 + trophy and ₹20000 each.
This was Sharan’s third tournament triumph of the month and fifth of the year. He also won one more rating tournament in the same month.
The tournament was organized by KLE Technological University, Hubbali, Rotary Club of Hubli North and Dharwad District Chess Association at Dr. Prabhakar Kore Indoor Sports Arena, KLE Technological University in Hubbali, Karnataka on 22nd and 23rd June 2024.
