
This might be the 1st Chess Event organized by a foreign team at another host country. I am glad to thank Mr. Akram, the President of Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) and Mr Najib, the Secretary of MCF for allowing us to run the Sri Lanka Chess Classics – The Armageddon Chess Challenge in Malaysia.
The Event was a great success with participation of 81 players from six Countries, namely Singapore, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Sri Lanka and host Malaysia including two Grand Masters with such a short Notice.

Grand Master Mitrabha Guha from India won the Championship with a perfect score of 7 out of 7 Games. GM RR Laxman (India) was Runner Up on better tie breaker after 4 way tie and Jval Saurin Patel of India won the 3rd Place. Nelson Villanueva of Philippines also tied for 2nd spot but had to satisfy himself with the 4th place on lower tie breaker. A total of 700 Malaysian Ringgits were distributed among Winners.

KM Sanudula Dahamdi of Sri Lanka won the Women’s Champion Award.
Mr. Najib Wahab, The Secretary of Malaysian Chess Federation and Mr. Iwan schani Ibnu of the Malaysian Chess Federation made the Awarding.

Under 10 Open – Aarit Kapil (India)
Under 10 Girls – Samhitha Pungavanam (India)
Under 12 Open – Teo Hong Kai Javier (Singapore)
Under 12 Girls – Aradhya Akuratiya (Sri Lanka)
Under 15 Open – Velavaa Ragavesh (India)
Under 15 Girls -Sneha Halder (India)
