
Wadifa Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy became champion in the Sultana Kamal 41st National Women’s ‘B’ Chess Championship-2022 under the sponsorship by Abul Khair Group and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation at the Chess Federation Hall of the old building of National Sports Council in Dhaka.

Wadifa, Warsia Khusbu, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva of Manikganj and Kazi Zarin Tasnim of Bangladesh Navy earned 6½ points each. In the tie-breaking system. Wadifa clinched the title, Warsia Khusbu became runner-up, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva became 3rd and Nusrat Jahan Alo of Bangladesh Police became 4th.
Five players earned 6 points each. Their positions according to tie-breaking system are: 5th– Kazi Zarin Tasnim of Bangladesh Navy, 6th– Umme Taslima Protiva Talukdar of Bagura district, 7th– Tasnia Tarannum Orpa, 8th-WFM Noshin Anjum of Bangladesh Navy & 9th– Sabiha Marjana of Rajshahi Division. 9th or penultimate round games were held today (Monday).
In the last round: Wadifa drew with Khusbu, WFM Eva drew with Zarin, Alo beat Omnia Binte Yusuf Lubaba of Chattogram, WFM Noshin beat Nusrat Jahan Liza of Cumilla district, Protiva beat Neelava Choudhury, Dilara Jahan Nupur of Kushtia beat Maiesha Mahzabin Tisha of Pabna, Sabiha beat Jannatul Ferdousi of Rajshahi district and Orpa beat Jannatul Priti of Barisal district.
A total of 72 players from Dhaka City and various districts participated in this event held in the eight-round Swiss-League format. The top 8 players of this competition will get a chance to play in the Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib 41st National Women’s Chess Championship.
12 players are taking part in the round-robin format event in which former women’s champion WCM Jannatul Ferdous, runner-up WCM Ahmed Walijah, two international women’s masters Rani Hamid & Sharmin Sultana Shirin will participate directly.
The Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib 41st National Women’s Chess Championship will start from 17th November, 2022, Thursday from 3:00 PM at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room.
