Taryam Matar Mohamed Taryam Elected UAE Chess Federation President

The UAE Chess Federation, chaired by Taryam Matar Mohamed Taryam, held its first meeting at the Federation’s headquarters in Dubai, after officially taking over the headquarters from the General Authority for Sport, attended by Dr. Saif Salem Al-Nuaimi, Mashal Al Barket, Saud Al-Kutbi, Omar Othman Rabie, Nasser bin Amer and Khloud Issa Al Zarouni.

The meeting witnessed the distribution of administrative portfolios to the members, where two new members were appointed, according to the regulations, Sultan Al-Taher and Abdul Karim Marzouki, who joined the Board of Directors of the Federation, to increase the number of the council to 9 members.

The positions were distributed, namely Dr. Saif Salem Al-Nuaimi as vice-president of the Federation, Abdul Karim Marzouki as Secretary General of the Federation, Nasser Bin Amer as Assistant Secretary General, Sultan Al Taher as Chairman of the Technical Committee, Mashal Al Barakat as Vice-Chairman of the Technical Committee, and Khloud Issa Al-Zarooni to Media Committee and Women’s Committee, Omar Othman as Deputy Chairman of the Technical Committee, Rabie is head of finance.

The President of the Federation, Taryamm Matar, thanked His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed al-Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council of Sharjah, for his great and unlimited support, and to His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan al-Qasimi, Deputy Governor of Sharjah.

He also thanked the General Authority for Sport, its Secretary General Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector of the General Authority of Sport, Abdullah Mohiwa, the Olympic Committee, and all the clubs that voted for the current council, and said: “We started the task quickly as soon as we received the Federation, and we held our meeting the next day, in order to arrange the union papers from within, and start working with clubs and teams, and we had to resolve the file of administrative portfolios, and indeed the distribution of positions was easy, especially that the new appointees have great experience, we trust their abilities in adding to the federation and the teams, and we work hand in hand with all clubs, for one goal, which is to raise the UAE flag in tournaments and external forums.”
