Tight Race After 6 Rds of Western Asia Youth Chess Championship in Sri Lanka

The tournament is organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE.

FM Erzhgab Zhakshylykov of Kyrgyzstan maintained solo lead in the boys under-18 with 5.5 points after six rounds. FN Manon, Reja Neer of Bangladesh is one point behind alone in second slot.

FM Akhilbay, Imangali of Kazakhstan leads alone with 5.5 points out of 6 rounds in the boys under-16 followed by compatriot Dumanuly, Sultanbeibarys and Indian Daksh, Goyal with 4.5 points each.

CM Sakline Mostafa, Sajid of Bangladesh is in solo lead in the boys under-14 group with 5 points followed by Sri Lankans Induwara, T H D Thisarindu and Janukshan, B with 4.5 points each.

Ayaan, Garg of India and Vinuka Dihain Wijerathna of Sri Lanka are tied for the lead in the boys under-12 with 5 points each followed by Biglarifard, Koorosh of Iran with 4.5 points.

Karunasena, A P Chenitha Sihas Dinsara of Sri Lanka and Ashok Samaksh of India are tied for the lead in the under-10 boys with 5 points each followed by three other players with 4.5 points each, namely Sogerwal Vairaj of India and Sri Lankans HM Chamuditha Sasen Bandara Herah and Thehas Rithmitha Kiringoda.

Kavish, Palaniappan K of India leads the boys under-8 alone with 5.5 points after six rounds followed by four players with 4.5 points each, namely Sri Lankans Nethmitha, Thanushan, Shakithiyen T and Kulathilaka, M A Sanuka Sageeth, and Uzbek Abdulakhatov, Nurislom.

Five players are tied for the lead in the girls under-18 with 4.5 points each, namely WFM Galina Mikheeva playing under the FIDE flag, Mallick Mrittika of India, WFM Guldona Karimova of Uzbekistan, Aidana Madi of Kazakhstan and WFM Ahmed Wadifa of Bangladesh. 

Ananya, Raman of India leads alone with 5 points in the girls under-16 followed by Zilola Aktamova of Uzbekistan and Zhaniya Naunaova of Kazakhstan, tied at 4.5 points each.

Berdibaeva, Edisa of Kyrgyzstan and Aadya, Gupta of India remain tied for the lead in the girls under-14 with 4.5 points each. Sri Lankans Mudalige, S M I Umandi and Rathnayake, R M Dulinma Hemalni and Indian Asudani, Ruhani Raj follow with 4 points each.

Palliyage, Sethumlee Devhara of Sri Lanka leads the girls under-12 alone with 5 points after 6 rounds. Compatriot Hansadi, R B Pumudi, WCM Warsia, Khusbu of Bangladesh and Alima Omirserik of Kazakhstan follow with 4.5 points each.

Gomes, J Vaneesha Oshini of Sri Lanka leads alone with 5.5 points followed by Sholpanbek, Zhansaya of Kazakhstan with 5 points. Three players are tied with 4.5 points each, namely Indians Divi, Bijesh and Pooja, Shree R and Sri Lankan Thanthulage, Hesanya.

Four players are tied for the lead with 5 points each after 6 rounds of the girls under-8, namely Warisa, Haider of Bangladesh, Aaranya, R of India and Sri Lankans Fernando, Warnakulasuriya Eleesha and Ranasinghe, O R Hasini Anuththara.

Before the start of the sixth round, there was a cake cutting for birthday celebrants Arshia Mohammedian, under-18 from Iran, the Indian player, under 12 girl Sri Darshini and the arbiter Dileepa Dilshani from Sri Lanka.
