Tula to Welcome Asia’s Young Chess Stars for the 20th Asian Schools Chess Championships 2026

The Asian Chess Federation is pleased to announce that the 20th Asian Schools Chess Championships 2026 will be held in the Tula Region, Russia, from 1 to 11 October 2026, bringing together the continent’s most promising young chess talents

in another exciting edition of this prestigious annual event.

Organized by the Local Organizing Committee in cooperation with the Asian Chess Federation and subject to the applicable FIDE procedures, the Championships will welcome players representing national chess federations from across Asia in 12 age categories for boys and girls: Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, and Under 17. Players must meet the respective age eligibility requirements as specified in the official regulations.

The Championships will feature competitions in all three official time controls:

  • Standard Chess (9 rounds)
  • Rapid Chess (9 rounds)
  • Blitz Chess (9 rounds)

All events will be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess using the Swiss System.

Beyond the individual competitions, the tournament will also award team trophies and medals, recognizing the strongest federations across the Standard, Rapid, and Blitz events. Champions will receive prestigious cups, while medalists will earn medals and certificates. Eligible players will also have the opportunity to obtain direct FIDE titles and title norms in accordance with the FIDE Handbook.

The official venue will be the 4-star SHAHTER Park Hotel in the scenic Tula Region, with additional official hotels available for participants and accompanying persons. The Organizing Committee will provide free accommodation and meals for one official player in each category, along with one Head of Delegation per federation, while complimentary airport transfers will be arranged from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo airports for registered participants.

The Championship schedule begins with arrivals on 1 October, followed by nine rounds of Standard Chess from 2–8 October, Rapid Chess on 9–10 October, Blitz Chess on 10 October, and concludes with departures on 11 October 2026. Opening, awarding, and closing ceremonies will be held throughout the event.

Registration is open exclusively through national chess federations, with the registration deadline set for 15 September 2026. Visa applications requiring official invitations should be submitted no later than 1 September 2026.
