20TH ASIAN SCHOOLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS · TULA 2026
Young Stars Achieve Title Norms and Direct Title Qualifications in Tula
27 players recognised for achievements in the standard competition
Tula, Russia — Beyond the medals, the 20th Asian Schools Chess Championships marked an important step in the development of young chess talent. Performances in the standard competition produced international title norms, direct titles and title qualifications conditional on reaching the required rating.
The championships, held from 1 to 11 October 2026, provided a platform for players across six age groups to compete on the international stage. The title-achievement list recognises 27 players: two norm recipients, eight direct-title recipients and 17 players with rating-conditional title qualifications.
Russia’s Aleksey Prokhorov achieved an International Master (IM) norm following his Boys Under 17 standard gold medal. Uliana Dudkina, also of Russia, achieved a Woman International Master (WIM) norm after winning Girls Under 17 standard gold. These norms represent progress towards the respective titles.
The direct-title list includes three Woman FIDE Master (WFM) recipients, four Woman Candidate Master (WCM) recipients and one Candidate Master (CM) recipient. A further 17 players qualified for titles upon reaching the specified rating: one for FM at 2100, seven for WCM at 1800 and nine for CM at 2000.
A norm is a step towards a title. Rating-conditional qualifications below become eligible for the stated title upon reaching the specified rating; they are not presented as completed title awards.
