Alvin Roma of Rodriguez, Rizal emerged as champion of the Kenzo Gambit Rapid Chess Tournament held June 21 in Sta Cruz, Tarlac City, Philippines.
The former mainstay of the National University chess team finished the 7-round Swiss system competition with a perfect 7.0 points to clinch the title.
Gelmar Tuazon and Jamler Uy tallied 5.5 points each,
Jeffrey Pascual, Nads Salazar and Ralph Oliver Duran finished the tournament with similar 5.0 points, James Henry Calacday scored 4.5 points, while Edwin Cortez, Marlone Salamida, Alvin Almuete, Steve Arcega, John Bucoy Manuel Tenerife and Jerry Basco have identical 4.0 points.
The tournament was hosted by Architect Antonio Capili, the tournament director was Engr. Angelito Hizon assisted by Arbiter Mr. Rey Martin.-Marlon Bernardino-
