With no solo leader in all categories, a fierce fight is expected in the last round of the Asian Amateur Chess Championship organized by the Al Ain Mind Games and Chess Club under the auspices of FIDE and the Asian Chess Federation.
In the penultimate round, local bet CM Saeed Laily Mohamed of the UAE beat Dandel Fernandez of the Philippines while Mukhmmadrizo Umarov of Uzbekistan kept pace by beating Pankaj Sharma of India to share the lead with 6.5 points each after 8 rounds.
