India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan Top 3 in Western Asia Youth Chess Championships

The Indian team garnered four golds and four silver medals to win the overall award in the Western Asia Youth Chess Championships held 17-22 June 2022 in Maldives. Kazakhstan followed also with four golds but with three silver medals to place second followed by Uzbekistan with three gold medals.

Nine countries competed in the event organized by the Maldives Chess Association under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE, namely Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and host Maldives.
