
The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka starts over the board Chess after the 2nd wave of COVID 19 on 28th January 2021 with the 8th Sri Lanka Grand Prix to be started at CFSL Headquarters, Nugegoda. Twelve top Chess players, led by Liyanage Ranindu Dilshan (in photo above) including 3 National Team players and National Amateur Chess Champion are registered to play in this major Chess event. The Chess Federation has offered Rs. 110,000/- as the cash awards and Trophies and Medals to the winners.
The event will be conducted in the highest possible technology with live games displayed using DGT Chess Boards. A live streaming will be arranged at the final stage at CFSL Youtube Channel
The event will be played with all the health guidelines given as below:
1. Cleaning hands and checking the fever before entering venue
2. Players should wear Masks, wisers & Gloves (Provided by CFSL)
3. One game in 6 x 2 1/2 Table
4. No Spectators/ Parents allowed in the venue
5. No shaking hands, discussions and Food consuming together at the venue.
The event will be held on 28th, 29th (Evening), 30th, 31st January and 4thy, 5th, 6th and 7th of February. The 1st round is a 11 round Round Robin and then the Knock out stage will be played among the top 4 players.
