The CFSL Online Youth Under 10 Yrs Chess Championship 2021

Eight players shared the lead with four points each after the 4th round of the CFSL Online Youth Under 10 Yrs Chess Championship 2021 conducted by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka today. The event which is held on 3rd and 4th of April 2021 at the Chess.com platform with a total of 155 Chess players from all over the country. It is conducted on Swiss System in 8 rounds with the time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move. Players born after 1st January 2011 are playing in the event.
Chanitha Ovitigala of Nalanda College (in photo above) beat MI Liyanarachchi, Charuki Jayatilleke, Sritharan Nehan, Shanuk Nanayakkara.
Kavinu Weerathunga(Rahula College) beat Hasini Jayasekara, Abdul Jassin, Ruvin Jayasuriya and Pumudi Hansadi to reach 4 out of 4 points.
Onel Wijesingha (Nalanda College) beat Budmina Jithum, Anuhas Jayasinghe, Saheli Abeywardana and EMBD Ekanayake.
Devhara Palliyage of Sangamittah Balika Vidyalaya (in photo above) beat Imeth Bernard, Himaka Costa, Raneth Abeyratne and Inara Cassim to score 4 points.
The top seed DDLN Dandeniya (Maliyadeva College) beat Kishan Laknath, AWNN Jayaweera, Savinda Mindupriya and Chanudi Jayasinghe. Sahen Devasurendra (Lyceum International, Nugegoda) beat Hiran Ranasinghe, Senhas Perera, SMME Samarakoon and Randil Zoysa to achieve 4 points.
Sesandu Chanula of Rahula College (above) beat Minudi Perera, Kaviru Methula, Seniru Rathnagoda and Sethum Samaraweera while KG Wimalarathna(Kingswood College) beat Hansaka Kothalawala, Aayush Puarasinghe, Thehas Kiringoda and Galkotuwa to reach full points of 4 out of four games.
With the current COVID 19 Pandemic situation, the Chess Federation as all other Chess organizations have started online Chess with all precautions for cheating. All players participating are allowed to play with laptop/ Desktops only and they are compelled to be in a Zoom meeting throughout the games with shared screen/ Task Manager. The Chess arbiters are closely observing them through this zoom meeting throughout the game. All other checking measures for cheating is in action and the Chess Federation has declared 2 year ban from Chess if any player found guilty in cheating while playing.
The Chess Federation plans to organize the CFSL Youth Under 10Yrs, 10Yrs G, 12Yrs, 12Yrs G, 14Yrs, 14Yrs. G, 16Yrs., 16Yrs. G. 18Yrs. and 18Yrs. Girls Championships this year in order to field Players to represent Sri Lanka in all World/ Asian Youth Online Chess Championships 2021. The Under 10 Girls, 12, 12G, 14 and 14 Girls are already over.
