The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka is willing to start the Sri Lanka National Chess Championship Cycle 2021 (Open and Girls) with the Sri Lanka National Novices Division Chess Championships from last week end of May 2021.
The event will be held as swiss system events of 5/6/7 rounds according to the number of participants in a weekend. Till 80 players, 5 rounds, till 150 players 6 rounds and over 150 players 7 rounds.
The event will be held in 17 Districts, Colombo, Gampaha, Kaluthara, Kandy, Matale, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Rathnapura, Kegalle, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kurunegala, Puttlam, Badulla, Monaragala and Jaffna. The exact dates and tournament regulations will be published by the regional organizers by time to time.
The Events will be organized according to the health guide lines issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports Medicine Institute of the Ministry of Sports. Specially, the hand cleaning, Wearing glows and face shields and masks, social distancing are compulsory. Parents can drop their children at the venue and come back for collection. Telephone facilities for players to contact parents are arranged.
